SGVCUE Outstanding Teacher Award
The San Gabriel Valley Computer Using Educator (SGVCUE) Outstanding Teacher award recognizes a classroom teacher who has a noteworthy contribution to educational technology in a classroom setting. Using technology to support standards-based curriculum is the key element in this award. Nominees must be classroom teachers and CUE members in good standing. Nominations are submitted through SGVCUE members. The Award winner will become SGVCUE’s nominee for the Computer Using Educator’s (CUE) Award for Technology in Education Outstanding Teacher Award.

Deadline for Nomination Submission:
Applications must be submitted to San Gabriel Valley CUE by Saturday, April 10, 2010.

Applications are accepted through our local SGVCUE members. Download the Application Form.

Once you have completed the interactive application which is a pdf file that allows you to complete the form on your computer, be sure to save the file with a new name that includes the name of the nominee. Example: jmillernomination.pdf

Criteria for Selection:
Nominees are evaluated according to the degree to which the following criteria is met.
Note: Technology is assumed to mean more than just computers.
  • The nominee is an active member of SGVCUE.
  • The nominee’s work reflects the mission and purpose of CUE.*
  • The nominee’s work can be used as a model for using technology to support standards-based curriculum on an ongoing basis.
  • The nominee is a K-12 classroom teacher.
  • The nominee’s work has had a significant positive impact on technology use in education: locally, regionally and/or statewide.
  • The nominee has made efforts to involve the community to facilitate partnerships with business and/or legislators to advance the use of technology in education.
  • The nominee works above and beyond to genuinely improve the quality of education.
  • The nominee has integrated deliberate planning in an effort to improve education through the use of technology.
  • The quality of education and/or work experience has been significantly advanced in the nominee’s workplace as a result of the nominee’s efforts.
  • The nominee has contributed to the profession by presenting at professional conferences, seminars and/or workshops or publishing articles in print or through electronic media.
  • The nominee will represent SGVCUE and CUE in all forums.
*CUE promotes and supports the effective use of technology within the educational community.

2. CUE Affiliate Winner
  • Complimentary CUE conference registration and technology-related prize(s)
3. CUE State Winner
  • Complimentary CUE conference registration
  • Technology-related prize(s)
  • Individual plaque
  • Name added to perpetual plaque in CUE’s Hall Of Fame
4. ISTE Outstanding Teacher Winner
  • $1,000 towards travel to the annual ISTE Conference
  • Individual ISTE membership
  • Technology- related prize
  • Winners are also honored at various events at ISTE.
The Outstanding Teacher will be presented at the SGVCUE Tech Fair on May 1, 2010.
