Christine Pinto (@PintoBeanz11) has been the board member mastermind behind two awesome SGVCUE meetups. We had one in August meeting several members for some Back-to-School chats at Starbucks in Covina. A huge shout out to my master teacher, Patty Mendoza (@maestramendoza), for being there and representing Rowland USD.

This past Saturday, we gathered at Arrow Lodge Brewing in Covina. There were many people present and the conversation was non-stop. There was talk of flexible seating, science experiments, and a general beginning of the school year classroom excitement and tech challenges. It was truly a great opportunity to catch up with affiliate members and get to know the members we don’t often see. Everyone who attended the meetup had the chance to win an entry to Alice Keeler’s benefit event at APU; Matt Nasont from Bishop Amat was the lucky one!! Congratulations, Matt!

Our annual event, Innovation Celebration, is on October 14 at Bassett High School in La Puente. Come join us for a full day of techy talk and learning. There are LOTS of prizes that will be raffled and attendees will have some special perks from a few of our sponsors just for attending. There will also be a STEAM playground with ten stations to check out various toys, including Ozobots, Raspberry Pis, AR with VR goggles, Makey Makey, Edison bots, and Little Bits. There will be something for every grade level teacher to explore. Check out the schedule to see the list of presenters and topics they will cover. Not to mention, Ann Kozma (@annkozma723), the incredible Tech TOSA, will be the keynote speaker! WHAT!! Yes, you want to be there!

If you’re not able to join us at Innovation Celebration, gather with us at our next meetup on Saturday, November 4 at Victoria Gardens in Rancho Cucamonga after our field trip to the Apple Store. Time and location TBD. Invite your friends; the more the merrier. Follow us on Twitter @sgvcue for the latest information. All of us will be tweeting and retweeting it!
